April 22nd this year is the 51st "Earth Day", when President Zhao Jinzhou, Vice President Wu Xiaobing and 200 teachers went to Longquan Mountain near Chengdu to plant trees in a volunteer program.
Longquan Mountain is located at the east of Chengdu Plain. It is 200 kilometers long from north to south and 10 kilometers wide from east to west. Its forest coverage rate is about 23%, and its cultivated land accounts for more than half of the mountain area. It is rich in peaches, pears, apples, loquats, grapes, etc. In March, 2017, Chengdu decided to build an urban forest park here.
The voluntary tree planting in Longquan Mountain is a public welfare activity advocated by the Chengdu Municipal Government. Civil servants, university teachers and students, corporate employees, and social volunteers are all very willing to participate in this activity, with a general hope to make their hometown more beautiful.
On April 22nd, teachers from Southwest Petroleum University planted many trees on the mountain. President Zhao Jinzhou says that planting trees is the obligation of every citizen, and our university must fulfill its social responsibilities and contribute to the construction of Longquan Mountain Urban Forest Park.
