On November 23, Hai-Sui Yu, fellow of British Royal Academy of Engineering and vide president of University of Leeds visited SWPU. Zhao Zhengwen, vice secretary of SWPU Party Committee, met with Yu. Two universities signed a strategic cooperation agreement and an agreement on 2+2 double degree undergraduate programs in geology and geophysics.
According to the agreements, both universities will cooperate in various aspects, including scientific researches, academic activities (courses, conferences, seminars, symposiums, or lectures), faculty exchange, joint training for students, and information sharing.
The delegation of fellow Hai-Sui Yu includes William Murphy, director of School of Earth and Environment,University of Leeds , Julia, East Asia market director, Pan Lu, manager of strategic relations and cooperation, and Catherine, regional market specialist.
The University of Leeds has cultivated many prestigious alumni, including 6 Nobel Prize winners and 2 presidents. Current students cover more than 8,000 international students and 2,700 Chinese students.
